Does anyone know if this place is kid friendly? I'm planing a week trip with my 10 year old son to Paris and this place sounds like the perfect location for what I want to do (mostly hit the tourist spots).

I saw this place on a programme called global village and would very much like to go there. Hard to believe there are still people like Marie Odille left in this world. I live in Sydney Australia but wish to relocate to live in France and think this would be a good starting point. Sorry this is not in french but I am learning. anne

FABULOUS !!!!!

The owner, Marie Odille is a marvellous cook and a very caring person.

We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone.

Add me to the list of people with fond memories of the Pension Ladagnous. April & May, 1980, for me. Madame Pedron owned both Ladagnous and the one at 76, rue d'Assas, which was called Pension Pedron. There was a Yugoslavian woman named Lubica who worked there and I can't remember the maid's name. Happy days.

Re: nostalgic crowd: I think I go back further than you all: 1969 in Pension Ladagnous; I visited Les Halles the very last night the markets were open in, I believe, February of that year. Still have two pix I took from the top floor balcony, one looking down Rue Vavin toward and another away from the Luxembourg Gardens. Sweet.

For all of you nostalgic crowd, this link to listen (in French) to a radio program on France Culture about Pension des Maronniers starring Marie of course. 03/18/09 in 'Les pieds sur terre'

Would have loved to go there but now she's becoming famous, it may lose its charm.

Ah, yes, I remember it well.....I also stayed at Pension Ladagnous but it was the summer of 1980 and returned in 1981. Just to confirm, Marroniers and Ladagnous are two different pensions. Unfortunately Ladagnous has lost most of its charm and the top floor of the builiding next door. Some of my best moments were spent there. I couldn't get to see Marrioniers, but based on the comments above, it seems the one to go to. Remember, it is very basic..... The location is a dream, just in front of the Luxembourg Gardens. Around the corner from the Alliance Francaise and up the road from l'Institut Catholique.

Hi there, I lived for six months at Pension Ladagnous. This was way back 1979, If I ma not wrong. I stayed on the 5th floor right across the street (76' Rue d 'Assas), which was part of the same pension. I had dinners at 78. Breakfast was left outside the door: tea with bread, butter and jelly. There was only one bath and shower. So we had to stay in line in the morning. These were one of the best times of my life. Paris hunts you for the rest of your life.I do not change those times for any luxury or comfort.

Having stayed at both pensions, I can only say Pension les Marronniers is the only one to be recommended. You will have a private room with shower and sink, the toilet will be down the hall.
Marie Odile Poirier is a great and I mean great home style French cook.. The living areas are something to see. Marie Odile has some very interesting antiques, plus there is a good sized TV for all to use. There are books to borrow in a library cross the hall. What is special about Marronniersis if you can't make dinner ,it will be saved for you to microwave. Also, the park is directly across from it.
