Hotels
The purpose of this section of the website is not to list every hotel available in every budget. Instead, I’ve listed the hotels that I consider to be
- a) in a good location
b) a place I would recommend to a friend or a family member
c) not too cheap, not too expensive
Of course the George V or Ritz are wonderful hotels, but I don’t list them on my site because their reputations speak for themselves. The hotels I list are smaller hotels that I consider charming, worth the money and receive rave reviews from their clients. If a hotel is questionable for any reason, I don’t list it here. Always check the hotel’s Web site for promotions that can save you up to 45% on your room.

Hotel Recommendations by Arrondissement
Remember that Paris is divided into twenty neighborhoods, or “arrondissements“, each with its own flair and atmosphere. If you’ve never been to Paris, it’s hard to know which arrondissement to stay in. Too many people rely on monuments to steer where they will stay. Unfortunately this often leaves you far from the center of Paris where you can walk to almost anything, or in a neighborhood that is not as safe or quiet as you would have liked. I like to focus on the central arrondissements: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and sometimes 8.
My listings are followed by price codes:
$ - 100-200 €
$$ - 200 - 300 €
$$$ over 300 €.
Some hotels are considered “budget”, meaning under 100 €.

Apartment Rental
Many people like to have the comforts of home while traveling, and for them the perfect option is to rent an apartment. Financially they can make much more sense than hotel rooms, especially if you are staying more than one week. Most (but not all) apartment rental agencies in Paris require a minimum of one week. I recommend families with small children or larger families rent an apartment, as it will provide much more privacy than a hotel room will.
There are dozens of rental agencies to choose from. Here are some of the agencies I would recommend:
