Fat Tire Bike Tours now offers a great new way to see Paris. No buses, no aching feet: take a Segway, an automated human transport machine. If you’ve seen a Segway, you know what they look like: mountain bike-style handle bars connected to a large platform with two large rubber wheels on each side . It’s impossible to fall off, it goes only up to 12 mph, and it’s small enough to get down the sidewalk without running into pedestrians. Perfect for touring a large city in a small amount of time. Paris provides great terrain for a Segway tour: flat with many parks and wide bike lanes on the city streets.
The Segway tour lasts 4-5 hours, rain or shine. Fat Tire asks for a 400 euro security deposit which is returned at the end of the tour. The tour itself costs 70 euros and includes a 30 minute training session on the Segway. You go to most of the major monuments of Paris, leaving from the Eiffel Tower, and stopping at the Tuileries Gardens for lunch (not included). Your tour guide really takes his time telling you about what you are seeing so you feel like you are getting a real good tour as well as a fun new experience.
Day and night tours are available, check the website for more information! And if you go, let me know what you think.
