If you plan to go to one of the high end restaurants, it is best to reserve as far in advance as possible. If you are going to a local bistro or brasserie, a few days (or even a few hours) notice is fine. To be safe, it’s always best to have a reservation. You don’t need to reserve cafes, of course.
